League/Play Opportunities

Triangle offers “league” type programs for volleyball training and play during the traditional school year. Triangle currently does not offer league participation in the summer due to varying vacation schedules.

TRIANGLE JUNIOR LEAGUE

Triangle Junior League is a recreational team opportunity for intermediate level athletes. Six (6) two-hour sessions have as their goal improving both individual skills and providing competitive playing experience.  Sessions 1 and 2 include skill evaluations/skill development, sessions 3-5 include match play [competition], and session 6 includes tournament play.  Scoring/serving/competition modifications are made as needed by group or level with a goal to teach the game as close to ‘game speed’ as possible regardless of current skill level.  As skill level and understanding improves, modifications will be changed.  In this class, both Middle and High school players will be combined and playing together on teams; teams will not be grouped exclusively either HS or MS.  These sessions are held on multiple courts and number of participants will be limited. Teams will have between eight (8) and ten (10) players.

Attendees/Participants: Intermediate level youth in grades 6-12 [boys and girls]; those without usav junior club team experience.  Every participant is expected to have had some volleyball skill instruction and training experience.  Playing experience is desired but not required.  League will be played on standard women’s net with official weight ball.  Triangle Junior League is intended for youth players who have been exposed to skill based instruction and are ready for a team experience, desiring to improve in preparation for HS, middle school or Club team tryouts and/or desiring a local alternative to compete in a league format.

TRIANGLE MINOR LEAGUE

Triangle Minor League is designed to provide a training opportunity for student-athletes who are unable to participate on their respective middle school teams [due to grade/age restrictions] AND those seeking to fill the void between their club season, summer camps and club tryouts.

Attendees/Participants: 4th grade through 6th grade athletes with prior club volleyball experience*.

The coaching staff will work on both individual skills and team tactics.  Each of the four weeks of training will focus on specific concepts.  Mondays will include skill development and drills that address the week’s learning focus.  Wednesdays will include competition that will emphasize this same focus with an added element of tracking and measuring progress; teaching our student-athletes about statistical tools. Our training may cover previously introduced concepts for some and brand-new material for others.  The hope is that we can provide a mini-session designed to run like typical middle school volleyball practices.  These sessions will allow our student-athletes to get meaningful reps, to learn, and to improve.

QUESTIONS: Please contact Jenna Hinton at [email protected] or 919-462-8296.

*Club volleyball experience would include participation on a junior level volleyball team or junior club sponsored developmental program.  This excludes local recreational volleyball leagues or camp/clinic experience.  For those who unfortunately do not meet either our minimum requirement or are outside our age/grade limit, please explore the ‘Triangle Junior League’ option above. Requisite club experience does not have to be on a Triangle Volleyball Club team to take advantage of this opportunity.
