Steven Abbott

Abbott is a Raleigh native and a graduate of Sanderson High school. He attended Liberty University, where he was a member of the men's volleyball club from 2010-2014 as a DS/Libero. Before coming to Triangle, Abbott coached with Heart of Virginia volleyball club with the 15's national team as well as serving as the Varsity Head Coach of Trinity Academy in Raleigh for two years. At Triangle, Abbott has filled a variety of roles, working with both our boys and girls programs. Most recently, he served as the Head Coach for 15 Steel. 

"I coach at Triangle because it's a place where I feel at home. The administration and other coaches care about people on a personal level and they are willing to do whatever they can to help you be successful. Triangle's mission of developing the whole person creates a gym full of athletes that are not just great volleyball players, but great people who are a pleasure to coach." 

Abbott currently resides in Raleigh where he works as a graphic designer.

Scott Allen

Allen joined Triangle in 2013 as a resource coach. An NC State grad, he hails originally from Charlotte and currently works in the UNC Healthcare IT department. Allen was a member of the fencing team while at NC State and also enjoys running and playing ultimate frisbee. Allen and his wife, Julie, live in Pittsboro.

Mady Arles

Arles is originally from Richmond, Virginia where she was an avid swimmer. In middle school she picked up volleyball and it quickly became her favorite sport. Arles was a four-year starter for St. Catherine’s HS and served as team captain both her junior and senior year. She remains her high school’s all-time leader in assists and was instrumental in her team winning the League of Independent Schools championship. An accomplished setter, Arles played club at Richmond Volleyball Club (RVC) and was recruited to Emory University.

At Emory, she finished her four-year career ranked 8^th on the school’s all-time ladder with 2,233 assists. Her senior year she was named an AVCA First Team All-American. Additionally, Arles was featured in Sports Illustrated’s Faces in the Crowd in the December 13, 2018 edition and was named the NCAA Division III Championship’s Most Outstanding player.

Arles has coached for numerous years in numerous volleyball camps and clinics at RVC and Emory. Arles graduated Emory in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in both Neuroscience and Psychology. She is currently working as a Research Assistant at UNC-Chapel Hill in the Clinical Psychology Department.

Enid Badillo

Badillo joined Triangle in 2012 with a wealth of volleyball coaching experience at the high school, club, and collegiate levels. Badillo hails from Puerto Rico where she first developed her interest in volleyball playing on both her middle and high school teams. Since she moved to the United States, Badillo has served as an assistant coach at Chemeketa Community College in Oregon, head coach at Raleigh Charter High School, assistant coach at Peace College, and JV head coach and varsity assistant coach at Broughton High School; she also has worked as a club coach in the area since 1992. At Triangle Badillo has served as assistant coach of 13 Black and 14 Black and head coach of 14 Blue. Badillo lives in Clayton with her daughter, Maya.

Jessi Bartholomew

Bartholomew, an Atlanta area native, is a recent graduate of Duke University where she received her BA in Psychology. Bartholomew gained coaching experience while at Duke working in summer camps, as well as returning to coach camps and clinics at A5 and A5 South (her prior clubs) during her breaks. As a member of the Duke Volleyball team, she was a senior captain and a four-time ACC Academic Honor Roll honoree. Bartholomew played her high school volleyball at East Coweta High School in Sharpsburg, Georgia for coach Amber McClure, where she was an Under Armour High School All-America selection and the Georgia 6A State Player of the Year. She currently resides in Durham, where she enjoys traveling and cooking in her spare time.

Ally Beckman '15

Beckman returns home to Triangle where she played club for the 2012-2015 club seasons and was also a standout setter at Apex High School. At Apex she played varsity for four-years, leading the team to conference titles in 2011, 2012, and 2013. She earned Second Team Under Armour All American honors and was selected to The News and Observer’s All-Metro team in 2013.

At College of Charleston [CofC] Ally was an immediate contributor and is among a short list of CofC freshman to eclipse 1,000 assists in a single season. She earned Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) All-Rookie Team and All-CAA Third team honors both her freshman and sophomore years. Her junior year she earned AVCA All-East Region Honorable Mention and was named CAA Setter of the Year and All-CAA First Team honors. Her senior year play led her to being ranked third in the nation in total assists as she surpassed the 5,000-assist career mark and earned All-CAA Second Team honors.

Beckman is an equally capable sand player having qualified twice for USA Beach National Tour and being named Carolina Region Junior Beach Volleyball U16 Player of the Year in 2012. At College of Charleston Beckman excelled in the beach for all four seasons. She is tied for second in all-time career wins and earned AVCA Top Flight recognition at four’s her senior year. She finished her career with the fifth best career winning percentage (0.629).

Beckman graduated CofC in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and is planning to attend PA school in the future.

Meredith Blum

Blum, originally from the Raleigh area, is a graduate of Green Hope High School where she was a member of the volleyball team. Upon graduation, she attended NC State University. At NCSU, Blum was a member of the Rowing team for three years and knotched a top 10 ranking at collegiate nationals in all three seasons. After transferring, she graduated from Meredith College with a degree in Exercise and Sports Science with a concentration in Health and Wellness. Blum has served as head coach for The Montessori School of Raleigh and Millbrook High School in addition to her roles at Triangle. 

Though Blum has served in many facets at Triangle, she has a true passion for service, and in 2018 was honored with the Mary Beth Finegan Service Award for her volunteer work with the Veteran sitting volleyball team and Gigi's Playhouse. In her time at Triangle, she has worked several teams, but the majority of her time has been spent with the 13's and 14's age groups in both Head and Assistant roles. Most recently, Blum served as Head Coach for both 12 Steel (a first year team) and 14U Boys. She also serves as a lead clinician for many camps and clinics and works closely with the Town of Wake Forest Parks and Recreation Dept to help facilitate their summer volleyball league. Blum currently lives in Raleigh with her husband Greg and her daughters Adalynn and Emery. 

Jaclyn Brewington '15

Brewington is a Triangle alum and was a member of Triangle 18 Blue who double-qualified in 2015 by finishing 3rd in the USA division at Big South and winning the Disney Volleyball Showcase (USA division). At the USAV Junior National Championships 18 Blue went 7-3 finishing 13^th place overall in the USA division. Their finish was the highest of any second level team in the USA field.

In high school Brewington played varsity all four years at Holly Springs High School earning First Team All-Conference Honors her junior and senior seasons.

Brewington was recruited as a setter to Presbyterian College [SC] where she played all four years. Despite being sidelined twice with ACL injuries requiring surgery she amassed 1198 career assists which ranks fifth in the Blue Hose record book. Brewington graduated Presbyterian College in 2019 with a Bachelor of Business Administration with an Accounting Concentration.

Brewington lives in Holly Springs and works for Primoris Services Corporation while also working part-time for Ocean & Company as their head of Customer Service.

Robin Bugg

Hailing from Texas, Bugg brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to Triangle. As a middle blocker and three-time captain at the University of Tennessee (1980-1983), Bugg led her team to two SEC championships and three top 10 finishes in the NCAA tournament. The three-time All-SEC selection still holds several records at her alma mater, including career aces, career blocks and most blocks in a match. Bugg was inducted into the Lady Vol Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005. 

From 1992-2000 Bugg served as co-director and head coach of the North Dallas Juniors Volleyball Association. During her time with North Dallas she helped over 80 student-athletes earn athletic scholarships and won several North Texas Region and Tour of Texas championships. Bugg has made 18 trips to USAV nationals as a coach. 

She has over 30 years of coaching experience at the middle school, high school, club, and collegiate levels. She has served as head coach of high school programs in Texas, Utah, and West Virginia, and has 22 years of club coaching experience. In 2014 Bugg was named USA Volleyball Outstanding Female Coach. Bugg has served as the head coach of 18 Black, 17 Black, and 15 Black. Her 2010 18 Black team became the first team from North Carolina to “double-qualify” in 18 Open at USAV Junior Nationals; she led them to victory at the Lone Star Classic and a T-15 finish at Junior Nationals. In 2011 she led 18 Black to a third-place finish at the Big South Qualifier, qualifying in Open for the second consecutive year. In 2011, 18 Black finished 13th at USAV Junior Nationals – the highest finish in the Open Division of any North Carolina team in history. In 2012 Bugg led 17 Black to qualify in Open at the Lone Star Classic by placing third in the tournament. This was the first ever Open bid at the 17s age group in Triangle history. Bugg has mentored hundreds of Division I athletes, including 7 All-Americans. 

John Chang

Chang joined Triangle in 2014 and has served as the head coach of 14 White and 16 Silver and as assistant coach of 14 Black. Chang began playing volleyball while attending Cerritos College in California. He played both indoor and with the California Beach Volleyball Association. He began his coaching career after moving to Knoxville and has over 12 years of club coaching experience at Smoky Mountain Juniors, K2, and Knoxville Volleyball Academy. Chang and his family live in Chapel Hill.

Mikaela Christiaansen

Mikaela comes from a volleyball family where her mom played at UC–Santa Barbara. Christiaansen lettered all four years at Ironwood Ridge High School and was a two-time first-team Arizona Class 5A All-State selection and two-time honorable mention selection. She played club at Dinamo Volleyball Club and was named to the Prepvolleyball.com "Senior Aces" list. Christiaansen helped lead her club team to a second-place finish in the American Division at the 2009 Junior Olympics and was also a member of the Arizona Region High Performance Girls' Division Team in 2008 and 2009.

Christiaansen played both indoor and sand volleyball at Pepperdine University. Playing in all 64 matches during two seasons at Pepperdine, Christiaansen helped lead Waves to the NCAA Regional final and West Coast Conference title in 2011. As a member of the Waves' sand team, Christiannsen helped them claim the first AVCA Collegiate Sand Volleyball National Team Championship in 2012.

Christiannsen transferred to South Carolina for her junior and senior years again playing both sand and indoor for the Gamecocks. Her senior season she recorded 535 digs; the most in a single season in school history and third best overall in the SEC. Christiannsen was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week and a member of the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll.

Christiaansen graduation USC in 2015 with a degree in Public Relations and Sport and Entertainment Management. She currently lives in Durham and works at Cisco as a Services Account Manager.

Ashleigh Crutcher '11

Crutcher began her playing career at Triangle in 2007 on 14 Black and was on the first 15s team (15 Black 2008) in North Carolina to qualify in Open for USAV Junior Nationals. Crutcher and Triangle 18 Black qualified in Open for USAV Junior Nationals in 2011 and earned a 13th place finish. She graduated from Cary Academy in 2011 and went on to a standout four-year career at the University of Maryland. At Maryland, Crutcher earned All-ACC First Team honors as a freshman, Second Team honors her sophomore year, and was AVCA Honorable Mention All-American in 2012. In the classroom Crutcher was tremendously successful making both the All-ACC Academic Team in 2012 and 2013 and the All-B1G Academic Team in 2014. Crutcher finished her indoor career at Maryland with 1,342 kills, ranking her fifth all-time in school history. Crutcher graduated from Maryland in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology. After Maryland she went to UNC Wilmington to earn a master's degree in teaching. While at UNCW Crutcher played on their inaugural NCAA beach volleyball program.

Crutcher is currently living in Cary.

Abigail (Abby) Dawson

Dawson joins Triangle with considerable years of both playing and coaching experience. She played for Notre Dame Academy during her sophomore and junior year before transferring to Paul VI Catholic High School where she played senior year. Dawson played for Northern Virginia Volleyball Academy (NVVA) throughout middle and high school. She attended college at the Virginia Military Institute where she created the Women’s Club Volleyball program. She graduated VMI in 2014 with a BS in Biology.

Dawson has both head and assistant coaching experience at the club level working with athletes 13-16s at Charlottesville Area Volleyball Club (CAV). She served as an Assistant Club Director for the 2018/2018 club season. Dawson has also served as a middle school, high school JV assistant and varsity head coach.

Dawson currently works at IQVIA as an Operations Specialist.

Kendall Douglas

Douglas joined Triangle in 2017. She is originally from Greenville and currently attends UNC Chapel Hill. Douglas was introduced to volleyball in third grade by her older sister, Caroline (Triangle Class of 2011). Douglas attended J.H. Rose High School where she played all four years on the varsity team. She played eight club seasons at ECJVC. Along with her considerable club playing experience, Douglas has coaching experience as an assistant coach at ECJVC and as a head coach at NC Elite. Douglas is a psychology and exercise sport science double major at Carolina where she also serves as the manager for the UNC volleyball team.

Kaelyn Dyson

Dyson is returning to the triangle area where she grew up in Holly Springs. She played volleyball beginning in middle school and was a three-year letter winner at Holly Springs High School. She earned All-Conference First Team honors in 2013 and was also name the Most Outstanding Player. Dyson also played club volleyball at Club Red. Dyson was recruited as a middle blocker to Gardner-Webb University where she played all four years. She graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.

Dyson gained coaching experience while at Gardner-Webb working in summer camps and clinics.

Dyson lives in Morrisville and currently is employed by Verizon Business.

Mia Fradenburg '16

Fradenburg started playing volleyball at Triangle in the YVP program and continued from 12s through 17s. She graduated early from Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh and enrolled at UNC Chapel Hill in the spring of 2016. She then joined Triangle's coaching staff following her freshman season for Carolina, during which she appeared in 15 matches and earned ACC Academic Honor Roll. At Triangle, Fradenburg has served as an assistant coach in the 11s and 12s age groups.

Fradenburg was part of four state championship teams at Cardinal Gibbons and was named MVP of the 2015 state championship match, the school's first year competing in 4A. While playing at Triangle she was part of the 16 Black team that made it to the 16 Open championship match at AAU Junior Nationals in 2014, and Fradenburg was named to the all-tournament team. In 2015 she and her 17 Black teammates qualified in Open for USAV Junior Nationals after taking third place at the Disney Volleyball Showcase. 

Jim Freeman

Freeman, a native of Pittsburgh, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Liberty University before moving to the Raleigh area. Freeman served as head volleyball coach and assistant director of athletics at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh from 1991-2010. During his 19 years at the helm of the Crusaders, Freeman led Cardinal Gibbons to 10 state championships and 12 conference titles. His career record at Cardinal Gibbons stands at 426-117 (.785), a mark that also includes 12 consecutive appearances in the state championship. Most recently, Freeman spent five seasons as the varsity head coach at Broughton High School where he lead the Capitals to three consecutive conference championships. Throughout his career Freeman has coached over 30 NCAA Division I athletes, including several NCAA national champions and multiple NCAA All-Americans.  

Freeman began his tenure with Triangle volleyball club in 2004 and has coached teams in the 13s, 14s, 17s, and 18s age groups. In 2015, he led 18 Blue to it's first double qualification season winning the Disney Qualifier and finishing 3rd at Big South. The following season, 18 Blue repeated the feat, winning Beast of the Southeast and finishing runner up at NEQ. For the past three seasons, Freeman has been at the helm of 18 Black, coaching two youth National team participants, and notching an open level qualification in the 2019 season. 

Most recently, Freeman was hired at Duke University as the Director of Volleyball Operations. Freeman previously worked with the Blue Devils during their 2010 season as a volunteer coach. During that season, he assisted with the analysis of team and opponents and helped the the Blue Devils to an ACC Championship and an Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA tournament. 

Greg Gasper

Gasper formally joined Triangle’s staff in 2014 after coaching YVP and other Triangle programs for many years. Gasper has coached junior girls for over 18 years and is CAP I certified. Gasper was an avid USA Volleyball men’s team player after college and continued playing in the Carolina Region. Gasper is currently the middle school coach at St. Raphael where he has been coaching for 13 years. Gasper's prior club coaching experience includes many years at CCVC and TCA. Gasper works at IBM as a software engineer. He and his wife, Theresa, and their three children (Meghan, Sarah, and Sam) live in Raleigh.

Alston Godbold '11

Godbold (formerly Kearns), hails from the Raleigh area and is a graduate of Apex high school where she was a standout athlete and varsity letterwinner. In 2010 she captained Apex High School to a 27-0 season, 4A state championship, and a No. 9 ESPN National Ranking. She was named AVCA Under Armour All-American Honorable Mention and prepvolleyball.com All-American as a senior. After graduating, Godbold went on to compete as libero/defensive specialist at NC State. She earned a bevvy of all-tournament awards throughout her four years with the Wolfpack and finished her career at NC State in the top five for all-time digs. Godbold was featured on ESPN Sportscenter Top 10 Plays of the Day in 2013 for a defensive save play where she kicked the ball backward from an endzone to recover an errant pass. 

Godbold played libero for five years at Triangle including two years on Triangle 18 Black (2010 and 2011). In 2010 Godbold helped 18 Black earn two consecutive Open bids to USAV Junior Nationals, including a double qualification in 2010 when the team finished second at the Mideast Qualifier and won the championship at the Lone Star Classic. In 2011 she led 18 Black to a third-place finish at the Big South Qualifier, qualifying in Open for the second consecutive year. In 2011, 18 Black finished 13th at USAV Junior Nationals – the highest finish in the Open Division of any North Carolina team in history. 

Godbold served as a student apprentice coach during her time at Triangle and officially joined the staff in 2010. She has been an assistant coach of 14 Black, 15 Black, and 16 Black. In 2014 she helped lead 16 Black to the 16 Open championship match at AAU Junior Nationals. This was Triangle’s first appearance in an open division national championship match along with Triangle’s highest finish at AAU Junior Nationals. Most recently, Godbold was the head coach for 16 Blue and she is also currently coaches at Apex high school, serving as the JV head coach and varsity assistant. 

Kristina Graven

Graven originally hails from San Jose, California, and moved to North Carolina for the master of occupational therapy graduate program at UNC Chapel Hill. Graven played for Vision Volleyball Club and helped her team earn a bronze medal at USAV Junior Nationals her junior and senior year. She then began her collegiate career at Cal Poly before transferring to Saint Mary's College of California for her junior and senior year. While at Saint Mary's she earned AVCA Honorable Mention All-American honors, Saint Mary's Senior Scholar Athlete Award, and first team all-conference. Upon graduation Graven played at Northumbria University in Newcastle, England, on their university and semi-professional team.  

Graven's coaching experience includes numerous camps and clinics at Cal Poly, Saint Mary's, and Archbishop Mitty High School (her alma mater). She also served as the assistant coach of the boys 14-1 team at Bay to Bay Volleyball Club during the 2013 season.  

Lindsey Hall

Hall, a North Carolina native, joined Triangle in 2014. She has served as head coach of 13 Silver and as an assistant coach in the 12s and 13s age groups. She played libero at South Granville High School and competed in club for several years, finishing her career with Jammers Volleyball Club. Hall played intramural indoor and beach at NC State while earning degrees in sport management and business marketing. She graduated in 2011 and is currently the marketing coordinator at PNC Arena. She continues to play volleyball in several adult leagues.

Mason Harris

Mason has been playing and coaching volleyball for over 25 years at the club, high school and collegiate level. As an indoor player, Mason was a captain and All ACC Selection on the UNC Men’s Club Volleyball team. After graduating, Mason played for the highly successful USAV Men’s Open team, Pineapple Beach, coached by former Duke Women’s Head Coach, Jon Wilson.

Mason has coached at all levels of the sport, creating successful developmental programs on both coasts working with youth boys and girls. At the collegiate level, Mason coached alongside legendary Pepperdine Men’s Coach, Marv Dunphy, and served as an assistant coach to Joe Sagula at UNC. He is both CAP 1 and IMPACT certified and currently provides technical instruction to both local high school and club players. At the club level he most recently has worked with Chapel Hill Area Volleyball Club (CHAVC).

Mason has an undergraduate degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and master’s degree from NC State including a minor in Arabic. During the day he works as an engineer for Cisco Systems and outside of volleyball he loves spending time with his family, backpacking long trails and is an avid cyclist. Mason and his wife Christina live in Chapel Hill with their children Tymber and Canyon.

Aaron Harrison

Harrison is originally from Sharpsville, Indiana and moved to North Carolina from Florida where he most recently coached at Orlando-Tampa Volleyball Academy [OTVA]. Harrison coached OTVA’s 18-1 team for the last three seasons earning a T-9 finish in 18 Open at the 2018 USAV Jr. National Championships and a 17th place finish in 2019.

Harrison’s coaching career began at Asics Munciana Volleyball Club where he served as both a team coach and Recruiting Director for five years. While at Munciana he also was an assistant coach at Taylor University during the 2010 season helping the team earn a top 10 finish at the NAIA National Championship. Harrison also spent three years at Pinellas Heat (Florida) as the Advanced Development Coach while also leading their Recruiting Program. In 2015, Harrison was named USAV Florida Region Outstanding Junior's Coach (17U-18U).

Harrison graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University in 2007 and went on to earn his Master’s in Information and Communication Sciences from Ball State in 2008. He currently works at Cisco in RTP. Harrison and his wife, Hannah have two daughters, Emerson and Everly.

Drew Hermanson

Hermanson, originally from Ventura, California, played four years of high school volleyball. He attended UNC Chapel Hill, where he majored in history with a minor in geography, graduating in 2013. Hermanson continued to pursue his volleyball passion by playing for the UNC men's club volleyball team and helped them to a fifth-place finish at the 2012 NCVF National Tournament. As an avid beach player, Hermanson first got involved in coaching by working summer beach volleyball camps for the city of Ventura’s Recreation Department from 2009-2011. During his time at Triangle, Hermanson has worked with ages 14-17, assisting with 14 Blue in the 2013 and 2014 seasons and Head coaching 15 White in 2015 and 2016, In 2017 Hermanson was head coach of 16 White, which finished T-9 at AAU Junior Nationals, the highest finish for a White team in Triangle history. Most recently in the 2018 season, Hermanson served as the head coach for 17 Blue. 

In addition to his club coaching experience Hermanson spent 2013-2015 as a coach at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh, helping the Crusaders win three consecutive state championships. Hermanson recently earned a master's degree in teaching from NC State and is teaching American History at Broughton High School in Raleigh. 

Kelly Hogan

Originally from Chicago, Kelly Hogan brings a wealth of experience from both the college game and the elite club environment. Hogan most recently served two years as an Assistant Coach with Georgia Southern University where she primarily worked with setters and defensive specialists. Prior to her time at GSU, Hogan served as an assistant coach at UNC-Asheville and a volunteer assistant at the University of Tennessee where she gained considerable experience as a technician and recruiter.

Hogan played club at Sports Performance Volleyball Club [SPVB] (Aurora, IL) from 12s-18s and began her coaching career working full-time for SPVB. At SPVB she served as a team head coach and also worked in their College Prep, Scholastic Prep, Youth Academy and VolleyTots programs. She has also coached as both a master and team head coach at Xcel Volleyball Club in Hendersonville, NC during her time at UNC-Asheville.

As a Division I athlete, Hogan served as a two-year captain and outside hitter for University of Tennessee-Martin. While at UT-Martin Hogan was named to the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Commissioner's Honor Roll as well as to the school's Dean's List. Hogan graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in health and human performance.

Kelly and her fiancé Tyler have settled into the Brier Creek area in Raleigh. Kelly recently began working at Orange Theory in Brier Creek.

CJ Hunter

Assistant Director

Hunter joined Triangle's coaching staff in 2013 and has served as a resource, assistant and head coach (14 Blue, 14 White, 16 Silver and, most recently, 17 White). In 2018 Hunter's role was expanded when he was hired as an Assistant Director; bringing a wealth of sport's administrative experience to Triangle's professional administrative team.

Hunter received a Master's degree in Sport Administration from UNC-Chapel Hill's Exercise and Sport Science department in 2015. While at UNC he worked in the Tar Heels’ Athletic Communications office, handling media relations and game day operations for the UNC Women's Volleyball team. In 2015, Hunter returned to his undergraduate alma mater, Duke, to serve as the Duke Women's Director of Volleyball Operations. In this role at Duke, Hunter handled numerous aspects related to sports administration including community event and game/tournament coordination, camp administration, department budget management, team travel, marketing and promotion.

Hunter was the 2016 recipient of Triangle's Sam Casey Caram Excellence in Coaching Award, which is presented to the coach who best demonstrates exemplary dedication and commitment to the mission and goals of Triangle Volleyball Club. Prior to coaching at Triangle, Hunter coached at Surry Storm Volleyball Club in his hometown of Mount Airy for five years.

Hunter is also a graduate of Duke University, where he pursued his passions in education as well as volleyball, earning a bachelor's degree in Political Science in 2013 and working closely with the Duke Women's Volleyball program as a student manager.

Britni Johnson '14

Johnson, a Triangle alumna (2014), is joining the Triangle staff after graduating from the University of Mount Olive with a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Therapy . A four year starter at UMO, Johnson's accolades include All-Conference recognition, multiple Conference Player of the Week awards, as well as multiple Student-Athlete of the Week awards at the university. She was named MVP in 2015 and was the recipeint of the DII ADA Academic Achievement Award. Johnson earned Academic All-Conference Recognition in each of her four seasons. 

In high school, Johnson was a standout athlete at North Raleigh Christian Academy, earning MVP honors in back to back seasons, being named to the 2011 NCISAA All-State team, and being named 2011 TISAC Player of the year. 

Johnson is excited to rejoin Triangle as a staff member and hopes to pass along the valuable lessons she learned as an athlete. She has worked with multiple camps and clinics this summer and is looking forward to working with a team in the 2019 club season. 

"The discipline I learned at Triangle helped me balance athletics and academics throughout my college career and now is key as I enter the work force. I'm looking forward to helping student-athletes develop the on-court skills they need to prepare them for collegiate journey. Triangle was such an integral part in helping me prepare for success and I hope to become part of the process that helps young people better themselves through a sport I love."

Johnson is currently an instructor at the Mariposa School and resides in Durham. 

Lorin Kalpic '11

Kalpic (formerly Thomas) returned to Triangle in 2017. The Raleigh native played at Triangle for her 16s through 18s club seasons and served as a student apprentice coach for 12 Black. Kalpic graduated from Campbell University, where she played as an outside hitter and middle blocker, with a bachelor's degree in marketing and a master's degree in business administration. She currently is a marketing specialist at Teleflex, Inc.

In addition to serving as a student apprentice coach, Kalpic has coached summer camps at Campbell and continued with the program as a manager/graduate assistant while finishing her master's degree.

Katherine Koslowsky

Koslowsky (formerly Fleming), a native of North Carolina and graduate of Miami University in Ohio, joined Triangle in 2004. Koslowsky attended Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh and led her team to state championship wins every year. She was named All-Conference and All-State, and set two records in her senior season for single season kills and digs. Koslowsky was a TISAC Co-Player of the Year in 2001 and her #9 jersey hangs retired at Cardinal Gibbons. She went on to Providence College for two seasons where she was an outside hitter and still holds the single season digs record. Before graduating Cum Laude in 2007 from Miami University she finished her college career with two seasons in the libero spot.

Koslowsky holds a degree in philosophy and English from Miami and graduated in 2012 with Magna Cum Laude honors and a master's degree in Christian studies from Duke Divinity School. She has coached Triangle teams in the 12s, 14s, 16s, 17s, and 18s age groups. Koslowsky was also the Duke Women’s Volleyball volunteer assistant coach during the 2012 season.

She currently works for St. David's School in Raleigh as the director of camps and programming where she also assists the middle school volleyball team.

Erin Leier

Leier is originally from North Dakota and was a multi-sport athlete playing volleyball and participating in track and field at Maddock High School. Leier attended Valley City State University and University of Mary where she was a varsity athlete in track and field as a middle distance runner. She graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Financial Services and Banking.

Shortly after graduation Leier relocated to Minneapolis for full-time employment and simultaneously began her coaching career. She worked at Minnesota Select (MN Select) in Maple Grove, coaching multiple teams at the 13 and 14 age levels.

Still an avid runner, Leier lives in Morrisville and is currently working as an Account Development Representative with Investor Management Services in Cary.

Heather Lowell

Heather is originally from San Jose, CA having moved to the triangle area to attend Duke University’s Physician Assistant program. Lowell attended the highly regarded Archbishop Mitty HS where she played varsity three of four years and helped her team win the California State Championship her senior year. She played at Vision Volleyball Club beginning as a middle schooler and started her coaching career at Vision VBC in the summers. After high school she attended Loyola Marymount University where she played club level volleyball. She graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Sciences and a minor in Psychology.

Lowell has been spent nearly every summer since 2009 coaching volleyball. She’s worked with athletes at Archbishop Mitty HS, Santa Clara University and spent one summer directing the outdoor summer program for US Youth Volleyball League (USYVL).

Lowell lives in Durham and will begin pursuing her PA degree at Duke in August 2019.

Davene Mainwaring

Mainwaring joined Triangle in 2012 bringing with her an extensive coaching background. She first coached club when the juniors level was initially introduced in the Carolina Region. Her club coaching experience includes Durham Juniors, Cary YMCA Boys, SpikeForce, CCVC, TCA, and NC Elite. She has been the volleyball head coach at North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics for over a decade and is certified as an Accredited Interscholastic Coach. In 2011 Mainwaring led her team to become the 1A East regional champions and 1A state runners-up. She was voted the 2014 conference coach of the year.

At Triangle she has served as an assistant coach of 14 Blue, 14 White, and 15 White, but most recently was the head coach for 14 White. Originally from the Chicago area, Mainwaring is a graduate of Purdue University. She works as a quality assurance engineer and lives in Chapel Hill with her husband. The couple have three adult children, one of whom (Julia Mainwaring) also coaches at Triangle. 

Katy May

Originally from Pennsylvania, May joined the Triangle coaching staff in 2014. She was a high school, club, and collegiate player in the greater Philadelphia area, and was libero and captain for Franklin & Marshall College from 2008-2012. May has both high school and club coaching experience in Pennsylvania and North Carolina, having worked with players from 10 to 18 years old. Since starting at Triangle, May has been the head coach of 15 Steel and 15 Silver.

May came to North Carolina for graduate school, earning her master’s degree from Duke University in 2014. She now works in an environmental health science center at NC State as director of community engagement.

Andie McKinnon '16

McKinnon, a Triangle alumna, is a graduate of Orange High School where she was a 4-year contributor and 3 year captain on the women's volleyball team. She was named Big Eight Conference Player of the Year her senior season and helped her team to the third round of the state playoffs. Additionally, she was named MVP both her junior and senior year and garnered All-Conference honors on three occasions. 

McKinnon attended Emory University in Atlanta for 2 years and was a standout athlete for the Eagles. McKinnon averaged 3.38 digs per set and was named UAA Defensive Player of the Week. After deciding she missed North Carolina, McKinnon transferred back home and is currently attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. 

During her time at Triangle, McKinnon received the team award twice (16 Blue and 18 Black) and was also the recipient of the Mary Elizabeth Finegan Award for Service in 2016. 

Emily Meister

Meister, a PE teacher and volleyball coach at Cary High School in Cary, joined Triangle in 2017. The Nevada native came to North Carolina to attend Appalachian State University, where she played on the club volleyball team and then graduated with a bachelor's degree in physical education. She has a passion for training athletes and developed the first women's weightligting class in the Wake County Public School System. She continues to play volleyball in her spare time, in addition to remaining active through biking, hiking, and stand-up paddleboarding. 

Holly Paton

Paton joined Triangle in 2016 and is an avid indoor and outdoor player. She grew up playing volleyball alongside her two older sisters. She was an outside hitter at Sanderson High School in Raleigh and played club as well, including a year during Triangle's inaugural season in 2003. Paton was recruited to East Carolina University where she played her freshman year and graduated in 2013 with both a bachelor's degree and master's degree in recreational therapy.

Paton has coached a variety of age levels including two years at ECJVC while attending ECU and one year at NC Elite.

Paton is currently working as an outpatient mental health therapist for Hope Services.

Kyle Peck

Peck joined Triangle in 2013 and has served as an assistant coach on both the girls’ and boys’ teams. He works full time as a graphic designer at THREE, a market research agency in Cary. Through college he played on the NC State men’s club team and was named NCVF First Team All-Tournament for three years. Kyle was a volunteer assistant for the NC State women’s team for the 2014 season and has also directed his own summer volleyball camp.

Samantha Perillo

Perillo is originally from Wilmington, Delware and recently relocated to the RTP area. Perillo has been playing volleyball since she was five years old and has competed at the high school, club and Division III collegiate level. At Wilmington Friends High School she played varsity for four seasons for the Quackers under head coach Barbara Trinsey. Perillo was named Second Team All-State as a sophomore, junior and senior, and she helped the team earn the Barbara Vierra Sportsmanship Award all four years. She played club volleyball for Brandywine Volleyball Club and was recruited to Division III Stevenson University in Maryland. Perillo had a decorated career as a four-year starting libero at Stevenson, including being named the ECAC Defensive Player of the Year and the Middle Atlantic Conference Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2015. She was a 2015 NCAA Woman of the Year nominee and a three-time AVCA Division II Honorable Mention All-America honoree and a three-time All-Commonwealth Conference First Team selection.

After completing her indoor eligibility, Perillo spent three years competing on the Stevenson University’s Beach Volleyball varsity team, from 2015-2017, while completing graduate school.  She then moved into coaching, becoming the Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach at Stevenson from 2017 until 2019. Perillo graduated from Stevenson in 2014 with a BS in Business Communications, and completed her M.S. in Communications sciences in 2017.

Reagan Petty

Petty is originally from Nashville where she played both prep and club volleyball beginning at a young age. She attended Centennial High School and won numerous accoldates, including two-time district all-tournament team and two-time first team all-state. She played for Alliance and helped her team win the 2011 Mideast Qualifier. Her club teams earned top 20 finishes at USAV Junior Nationals in three consecutive seasons, including a ninth-place finish in 2010. Petty was named to the PrepVolleyball.com Defensive Dandies list and began her collegiate career at University of Alabama before transferring to Wofford College, where she earned Academic All-Southern Conference Team honors and graduated with a degree in art history.

Petty began coaching while playing club at Alliance. She has coached the Alliance Fall League and assisted with a 12U team. In addition, she has summer camp coaching experience at both Alabama and Wofford. Petty is currently attending UNC Chapel Hill in pursuit of a master's degree in American Studies.

Nicole Powers

Powers recently relocated to the triangle area from California. Originally from Northern California, Powers played club at perennial powerhouse clubs such as Golden Bear and NorCal. In her seven seasons with NorCal she helped her team qualify for nationals five times. In 2012 she earned the club’s “NorCal Award” for competitiveness, sportsmanship and leadership and was named All-NorCal Player of the Year.

She played libero for three years at Amador Valley High School and was named All-EBAL Honorable Mention at the position twice. Her senior year she transferred to San Ramon Valley HS and became the team’s setter and collected nearly 1,000 assists that season.

Powers was recruited to St. Mary’s College where injuries sidelined her ability to contribute fully on the court. She graduated St. Mary’s in 2018 with a B.S. in Business Administration. Powers plans to apply to law schools in central NC in the near future.

Colby Rosser

Assistant Director

Rosser (formerly Mangum) joined the Triangle coaching staff in 2012. During her time at Triangle she has worked with 17 Blue, 18 black, 15 Blue, and currently serves as the head coach of 15 Black. Rosser earned her B.A. in English Communications from the University of Mount Olive.

A four-year starting middle blocker and a three-time all-conference selection, Rosser helped lead Mount Olive to its first and second NCAA Tournament appearances in 2004 and 2005. The 2005 team set school records for best overall (28-8, .772) and conference (19-1, .950) winning percentage. 

Rosser remains the Trojans' all-time career blocks leader and had the top hitting percentage when she graduated. She continues to hold the school record for most kills in a match without an error.

Before taking over as head coach at Mount Olive, Rosser spent two years as head women's volleyball coach and compliance officer at Louisburg (Junior) College. In her two years at Louisburg, she guided the team to its first winning seasons and highest regional finish since 2008. 

Rosser served as head varsity and junior varsity coach at Southern Wayne High School, leading the varsity team to three consecutive state tournament appearances. Rosser was co-founder of Eastern Elite Volleyball Club in Goldsboro, as well as head coach of the 18's national team.

In June of 2018, Rosser joined the Triangle administrative team as an Assistant Director. 

Shelby (Wyatt) Sasser

Sasser, a Texas native, came to North Carolina to attend school and play volleyball at the University of Mount Olive. Sasser played club volleyball for 5 years and spent her 17's and 18's season with Houston Juniors. She played both middle and right side at Stephen F. Austin High School in Sugarland, Texas. During her time at Mount Olive, Sasser served as the secretary for  SAAC  (Student Athlete Advisory Committee) and her freshman season was the recipient of the Coach's Award. 

Sasser led and coached the 2015 summer camp program for Fort Bend Fire Volleyball in Richmond, Texas. Since moving to North Carolina full time, she has gleaned both high school and club experience. Shelby served as the head coach for the JV team and assistant coach for the varsity team at Garner Magnet High School in 2017 and is currently the Head varsity coach at Knightdale high school. On the club side,  she was co-head coach for the 16s Eastern Elite Volleyball Club in Goldsboro before coming to Triangle where she has spent the last two seasons working with the 12's program. 

Sasser currently resides in Kenly, NC and teaches at Knightdale High School. 

Jill Simpson

Simpson, originally from Colorado, brings considerable club coaching experience to Triangle. She played as a middle blocker in both club and high school at Overland High School. During her decorated prep career, Simpson was a four-year varsity letter winner and a three-time Colorado All-State and Centennial All-Conference selection. She led Overland to two Colorado 4A State titles and was named the KACT-TV Colorado Player of the Year in 1991. She competed collegiately at UNC Chapel Hill and was an impact player right away, earning the UNC Volleyball Rookie of the Year award and ACC All-Freshman team honors her first season. She is fourth all-time in the Tar Heel record books for solo blocks in a season with 103 in 1994.

Simpson began coaching during college at Carolina Volleyball Camps. In 2015, she joined the NC Elite Volleyball Club staff where she served as a head coach for four premier national teams ages 16s and 17s. Simpson’s teams have brought home the Atlantic Coach Power League championships in 16 and 17 Open, and she has qualified three years in a row for the USAV Girls Junior National Championships. She also has coached on the prep scene, first at Durham School of the Arts and now in her second season as the head coach at Millbrook High School. In her first season in 2018, she coached the Wildcats to the second round of the NCHSAA playoffs for the first time since the 2013 season.

Katie Slay '10

Slay returned to Triangle in 2017 where she played club her sophomore through senior years. She was a member of the 18 Black team that "double-qualified" for USAV Junior Nationals in the Open Division by finishing second at the Mideast Qualifier and winning the championship at the Lone Star Classic. Slay was a four-year varsity letter winner and two-year captain at Wakefield High School in Raleigh where she was named Cap-7 All-Conference and Cap-7 Academic All-Conference three times. In 2009 she was named Cap-7 Conference and News & Observer Volleyball Player of the Year. She was also nationally recognized as a First Team AVCA/Under Armour award winner and prepvolleyball.com High School All-American in 2010. Slay was selected to the USA Women's Junior National Team her sophomore and junior year and won the NORCECA Continental Championship U-20 in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico.

Slay was recruited to Penn State University where she and the Nittany Lions won the NCAA Division I National Championship in 2010 and 2013. During Penn State’s national championship run her freshman year, Slay posted her career-best attack percentage of .700. As a sophomore Slay was named AVCA Second Team All-American, AVCA All-Mideast Region, Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, First Team All-Big Ten, and Academic All-Big Ten. Her dominance on the court continued her junior year when she was named AVCA Second Team All-American, Volleyball Magazine Second Team All-American, AVCA Mideast Region, All-Big Ten, and Academic All-Big Ten. Her senior year saw the Nittany Lions grab another national championship and Slay being selected as the Capital One Academic All-American of the Year. After graduating from Penn State in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in communication sciences and disorders, Slay played two years professionally on the international circuit; Dresdner Sports Club 1898 in Germany and Vannes Volleyball in France. Slay returned to the United States to pursue her education and dream of becoming a speech therapist. In May of 2018, she graduated from East Carolina University with a master's degree in communication sciences and disorders. 

For the 2018 season, Slay assisted 13 Black and has served as a lead at summer camps and clinics. Slay currently lives in Raleigh. 

Kincey Smith '17

Smith, a Triangle alumnae (Class of 2017), and a current student athlete at Duke University is returning to Triangle to join the staff for the 2019 club season. A DS/Libero for the Blue Devils, Smith was named to the 2017-18 ACC Academic Honor Roll. 

A four-year letterwinner at North Raleigh Christian Academy, Smith was also a four-time All Conference selection in addition to being named 2015 Conference Player of the Year. Smith also garnered All-State and All-Metro honors twice and led her team to back to back state championship titles. A six year member of Triangle, Smith received the Iron Triangle Award in 2015 as a member of 16 Black, and finished her club career as a member of 18 Black.

Lauren Truvillion-Montilla

Truvillion-Montilla hails from Chicago where she was a four-year varsity starting outside hitter at Plainfield South High School. She played at 1^st Alliance, a perennial power-house club in the Chicago metro area. She attended and played at Butler Community College in Kansas until an injury sidelined her from the sport.

In In 2016 she transferred to University of Kansas and served as the women’s varsity volleyball team manager until graduation the spring of 2019. Throughout college she coached youth volleyball both in a team and camp setting. She’s been an effective and energetic camp coach at University of Kansas for many years.

Truvillion-Montilla graduated Kansas with a Bachelor of Humanities and Western Culture. She was recently married and currently lives in Fayetteville.

Mary Wands

Wands joined Triangle in 2011 and has over a decade of coaching experience at the middle school, high school, club, and collegiate levels. She has multiple coaching certifications including USAV CAP I and II, USAV Beach, and Gold Medal Squared Level 1. Wands has served as the head coach of 15 White and now serves the club in a vital capacity as a mentor and lead coach in the 11s and 12s age groups, in addition to coaching her own team in this group. 

Wands served as the varsity head coach at Raleigh Charter High School from 2009-2012. In 2012 she led Raleigh Charter to become the 1A East regional champions and state championship runners-up. 

Since 2013 Wands has served as the program director for Cary Parks and Recreation youth volleyball, teaching skills classes, summer camps, and managing the league program.

Originally from Syracuse, New York, Wands played collegiate volleyball at Genesee Community College. She is retired from US Airways and lives with her husband in Apex.

Emily Whitsett

Whitsett (formerly Regan) graduated in 2010 from Elon University with a bachelor's degree in English. Whitsett was a four-year letter winner as a setter at Elon and served as captain both her junior and senior year. She earned the coach’s award in 2010, Academic All-Southern Conference, and Athletic Director Honor Roll. Whitsett originally hails from Pittsburgh and played four years on the Pine-Richland High School varsity team. In 2005 she led her high school team as captain to a state championship and was named all-state as a senior. She played for both Renaissance Pittsburgh Volleyball Club and Pittsburgh Elite.

After graduation Whitsett was a teacher and volleyball head coach at Franklinton High School from 2010-2012. Whitsett then was a teacher at Apex High School and head coach of the varsity volleyball team from 2012-2016. She led the Apex program to two consecutive conference championships.

At Triangle, Whitsett has served as an assistant coach of 15 Black and 16 Black and head coach of 15 Black. In 2014 Whitsett led 16 Black, as the interim head coach, to a second-place finish in 16 Open at AAU Junior Nationals, the highest placing team in Triangle’s history at AAU Junior Nationals. In 2016 she coached 15 Black, which earned an at-large Open bid for USAV Junior Nationals and marked the second time a 15s team at Triangle qualifed in Open and the first time a Triangle team has earned an at-large bid. In 2017 she led 15 Black to qualify in Open for USAV Junior Nationals after a second-place finish at the Northeast Qualifier and a fourth place finish at the Northern Lights Qualifier. 

Whitsett resides in Raleigh with her husband, Uel, and her daughters, Stella and Hattie.

Jeff Wismer

Assistant Director

Wismer has coached both junior girls’ and boys’ club volleyball and has, in total, over 22 years of coaching experience at the collegiate (D1, D3, NAIA), club, and scholastic prep levels. He also has extensive club management experience serving over 13 years in leadership positions at several nationally prominent junior clubs. Additionally, Wismer is well-respected as an innovative leader in the junior club volleyball community having served three years on the Junior Volleyball Association’s [JVA] Board of Directors and another three years as the Keystone Region’s [USAV] Coaches Representative.

Most recently, Wismer served as the Advancement Coordinator at East Coast Power where he led program development efforts designed to enhance player training and support the development of East Coast Power’s coaching staff. In this role he also worked to create and grow large tournament events.

Prior to East Coast Power Wismer spent eight years at Alliance Volleyball Club in Nashville. It was in 2013 that Wismer left collegiate coaching after concluding 12 years as a collegiate first assistant [Lipscomb, Belmont, Villanova, Taylor, Eastern Universities, and Gwynedd-Mercy and Messiah Colleges] to become the full-time Executive Director of Alliance. Wismer served in that role until 2018 when he returned to his roots in the Philadelphia area and joined East Coast Power. While at Alliance, Wismer, supervised their 12-court facility and managed a staff with more than 90 coaches. He simultaneously coached alongside his administrative duties and in 2018 led Alliance 18-1 to a USAV National Championship in the National division.

Wismer’s early coaching career kicked off while he was a special education teacher working with troubled teens in the Philadelphia area. During that time Wismer worked extensively to grow and develop the boys’ game both at the high school and junior club levels. He founded and led two boys’ junior club programs, Central Bucks Volleyball and Buxmont Volleyball Club. Under Wismer’s direction Buxmont 17s and 18s teams became one of the premier boys’ teams in the Philly area.

When Wismer decided to leave the teaching profession in 2008 to pursue coaching at the next level he joined the staff at Munciana, while also assisting at Taylor University [NAIA]. At Munciana he coached “Muncie’s” 17-1 team who achieved top 20 Open finishes at both AAU and JVA National Championships. Since that time Wismer has achieved Open level success on the court qualifying Open USAV nationals in 2012 with Alliance 16-1 and finishing 13^th in the national championship. In 2016, his Alliance 15-1 finished T5 at AAU Jr. Nationals in 15 Open.

Wismer is USAV CAP I and Gold Medal Squared certified. He is an active member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association [AVCA] and worked to help develop avcaVPI™ (Volleyball Performance Index) in 2014 and 2015. He graduated from Messiah College in 1997 having earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in social studies education.

Wismer and his wife Andrea have a son Noah and plan to live in the Apex area. Andrea (Colbert) played field hockey at Messiah College.
